Very High Quality Reel, April 26, 2012 By This review is from: Pflueger Patriarch Spinning Reel (Misc.) I have several Pflueger reels and have found them to be an excellent spinning reel as well as being esthetically appealing. I purchased my first Patriarch last year and have since purchased three more in various sizes. The reel's light weight and smooth operation (10+1 bearings) was a big selling point for me. I fish with braided line on most of my spinning reels and the fact that this reel comes with a 'braid ready' spool was a must have. You do not have to "back" the spool with a carbon or mono line to keep the braid from slipping. I have used the reel in Canada and on Lake Erie as well as many fishing trip here in Kentucky and have had no problems with slippage and the reels continue to be a joy to use. The manufacturer also sells the reel with a reel cover, which is a nice touch, protecting the reel from bumps while in storage or transport. Like any piece of fine machinery I do recommend that you perform preventive maintenance on the reel i.e. screw driver to keep things... Read more

Aestheticly, it's a beautiful reel. I have used pflueger reels for a very long time. They make quality reels that's affordable.
